SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a deblocking method for deblocking an edge of a chroma block between a first chroma block of a first image block and the second chromaticity unit of the second image unit when encoding the image and/or decoding the image, wherein the de-blocking method comprises: performing a decision process with respect to an edge of a chroma block, wherein the decision process comprises: determining a first chroma quantization parameter (QpCp) for the first chroma block based on the first luminance quantization parameter (QpYP) of the first luminance block of the first image block and chroma QP reference tables for the first chroma unit; determining a second chrominance quantization parameter (QpCq) for a second chroma block based on the second parameter (QpYQ) luma quantization of the second luma block of the second image block and the chroma QP reference table for the second chroma block; determining an average and rounded chroma quantization parameter (QpC) based on a first chroma quantization parameter (QpCp) and a second chroma quantization parameter (QpCq); and determining the threshold parameter (tC) based on the averaged and rounded chromaticity quantization parameter (QpC); and performing a filtering process on the edge of the chroma block based on the threshold parameter (tC).
