SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for automatically controlling the compression ratio of a rotary piston engine, which includes moving the rotor shaft along the minor axis of the elliptical engine chamber using a displacement mechanism controlled by signals from a control device. The control device, using sensors, continuously receives signals about the current values of the parameters of the anti-knock properties of motor fuel, the degree of load on the engine, the pressure and temperature of the air in the intake manifold, carries out subsequent processing of the received information and continuously transmits a signal about the need to shift the rotor shaft to its displacement mechanism, ensuring the change the volume of the ignition zone limited by the outer surface of the rotor, the inner surface of the elliptical chamber and the plates pressed against it, located in the radial channels of the rotor, thereby providing the highest possible compression ratio without detonation for the current operating conditions of the engine.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency values, specific power and fuel saving properties of the engine and prevention of detonation of a fresh charge in the combustion chamber through automatic dynamic control of the compression ratio depending on the changing conditions of its operation.
