FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the production of highly loaded open-type shell products, for example launch tubes, by spiral-cross winding of polymer composite materials with tape. The metal mandrel consists of a central shaft with axle shafts, on which a rigidly fixed cylindrical shell with a form-building surface identical to the inner surface of the manufactured product is installed with a slope towards one of the ends, and locking elements on the side of each end of the shell that can be removed and secured against movement along the axis of the mandrel with the outer surface forming a form-generating surface united with the outer surface of the shell, whereas the form-generating surface is made smooth. Moreover, the axle shafts are made removable, and the locking elements have a smoothly mating cylindrical-conical shape with a mating radius and a cone angle necessary and sufficient to ensure a stable position of the polymer composite material tape during its spiral-cross winding on the forming surface of the mandrel. From the side of each end of the shell, there are reductions in diameters, covered by the internal surface of the locking elements corresponding in geometry to form annular gaps with elastically deformable elements installed in them adjacent to the mutually facing surfaces of the ends of the locking elements and shell for unfastening the product from the mandrel during the heat treatment process and the formation of action zones of the cutting tool when separating the polymer composite material located on the locking elements from the polymer composite material of the product after heat treatment, excluding damage to the surfaces of the mandrel elements. Moreover, the locking elements are secured against moving along the axis of the mandrel with a tape of polymer composite material during the process of winding the product.

EFFECT: increased manufacturability, facilitated process of mounting and dismantling the mandrel, integrity of the mandrel elements, expanded range of manufactured products and the process capabilities of heating equipment along the length and improved quality and performance characteristics of the product.
