FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to use of a pharmaceutical composition for kidney protection. Disclosed is the use of a pharmaceutical composition for protecting kidneys by reducing nephrotoxicity caused by a contrast agent, or for the prevention or treatment of acute renal injury caused by a contrast agent, comprising a compound of following formula 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, where the acute renal injury is caused by renal tubular necrosis, or reduced renal perfusion, or oxidative stress, or inflammation:
where R denotes a linear or branched alkyl group containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
EFFECT: application described above provides reduction of renal damage caused by contrast agent.
