FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electroplating, particularly to production of cobalt-tungsten carbide coatings used to impart high hardness and wear resistance to surfaces of parts and tooling. Method involves preparation of an electrolyte and deposition of a Co-WC coating using soluble or insoluble anodes. Electrolyte contains cobalt (II) chloride hexahydrate 35–40 g/l, ammonium chloride 100–150 g/l, urotropin 45–55 g/l, WC powder 5–20 g/l. Precipitation is carried out at pH = 6.5–6.8, temperature 18–25 °C, electrolyte stirring with a magnetic mixer at rate of 300–600 rpm and using unipolar galvanostatic mode of pulse current at current density in pulse 7–10 A/dm2, pulse duration 10 ms, current duty ratio 2.

EFFECT: obtaining hard, wear-resistant composite electrochemical coatings Co-WC at temperature 18–25 °C, having high adhesion strength.
