FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrolytic methods of producing inorganic compounds or non-metals. Electrode for generating oxygen comprises a substrate formed from titanium or titanium alloy; and catalyst layer located on substrate and formed by mixed metal oxide, wherein the catalyst layer consists of ruthenium, tin and a trivalent or higher-valence polyvalent metal element, with the exception of the tetravalent metal element, where the trivalent or higher valence polyvalent metal element, with the exception of the tetravalent metal element, is at least one element selected from the group, including bismuth, tantalum, lanthanum, niobium and molybdenum, and where content of ruthenium in catalyst layer is from 20 to 70 mol.% in terms of total content of metal elements in catalyst layer.

EFFECT: electrode for generating oxygen, equipped with a catalyst layer, has high specific electrical conductivity and excellent durability, so that even during electrolysis of acidic electrolyte, the probability that catalyst components will be consumed is reduced, and enabling electrolysis for a long time.
