FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: described is a vaccine composition containing an antigen of an intracellular pathogen of fish, for use in a method of treating a disease caused by an intracellular pathogen in fish, wherein the intracellular pathogen is an infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) or an intracellular bacterium selected from Aeromonas, Vibrio and Moritella, and reducing, preventing or avoiding spinal deformation in said fish, where the spinal deformation is characterized by complete collapse of the intervertebral space, where the composition does not contain serum, where the antigen is a salmon pathogen antigen, wherein the antigen is a killed intracellular pathogen.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce spinal deformation in fish, to reduce frequency and/or severity of vertebral state in the form of “cross stitching”.
