SUBSTANCE: invention relates to virology. Disclosed is a composition for use in a vaccine containing orthoreovirus inactivated by incubation with aziridine. Disclosed is a method of producing a composition containing aziridine-inactivated PRV. Method includes steps of: a) obtaining a composition containing PRV, b) inactivating PRV in said composition by incubation with aziridine and c) neutralizing any aziridine remaining after the incubation reaction. Disclosed is a vaccine for fish against PRV infection or disease, comprising a composition and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; method of protecting fish from PRV infection or disease, comprising administering said vaccine to fish; use of the composition for preparing a vaccine for protecting fish from an infection or disease caused by PRV; and a method of producing a vaccine for protecting fish from a PRV infection or disease. Immunogenicity of fish orthoreovirus (PRV) can be significantly improved by virus inactivation by incubation with aziridine. Efficacy of the vaccine against the infection in case of cohabitation is considerably increased.

EFFECT: this made it possible to develop an effective inactivated vaccine against PRV-induced infections and diseases.
