SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to antimicrobial mixtures suitable as a preservative, as well as to a cosmetic, pharmaceutical or food composition containing such mixture. Antimicrobial mixture contains in certain proportions 4-(3-ethoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)butan-2-one and a compound which is an alcohol selected from 4-hydroxyacetophenone, 5-chloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)phenol, sorbitan prylate, combination of 80% to 90% by weight relative to the total weight of said combination of xylityl sesquicaprylate and 10% to 20% by weight of 1,4-anhydroxylitol, 4-chloro-3,5-dimethylphenol and glyceryl caprylate. Inventions provide an antimicrobial mixture having synergetic antimicrobial activity.

EFFECT: antimicrobial mixtures can be used for care, application of make-up and cleansing of keratin-containing materials, preservation of food products and water treatment.
