FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical technologies, namely to production of ceramic powders of alpha-aluminium oxide from aluminium hydroxide and can be used in production of porous ceramics, for production of catalyst supports used in petrochemical industry. Method involves high-temperature annealing of aluminium hydroxide powder at temperature of 1,350 °C for 1 hour, treatment of obtained powder of alpha-aluminium oxide with 5 % solution of boric acid, its heating at 1,250 °C for 1 hour and disaggregation in a planetary mill at acceleration of 2g for 10 minutes to obtain an alpha-aluminium oxide powder containing 1.5 wt. % boron oxide.

EFFECT: obtaining a powder with a narrow and predetermined pore size distribution.
