FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, namely to methods for quantitative determination of organic peroxides in liquid media, in particular to determination of concentration of isopropylbenzene oxidation products, for example, to determination of concentration of isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide and dicumyl peroxide in streams formed in cumene process of producing phenol and acetone. Method for gas chromatographic determination of the amount of organic peroxides in liquid streams involves separation of a sample on a chromatographic column in a carrier gas stream and differential detection of components leaving the column. Sample separation is carried out on a weakly polar quartz capillary column at the following temperature mode of thermostating the column: holding at 40 °C for separation of components with normal boiling point of up to 140 °C; further heating at preset rate to 140 °C and holding at this temperature for separation of components with normal boiling point above 140 °C, including isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide and dicumyl peroxide; further, heating is carried out at preset rate to 250 °C and held at said temperature to produce micro-impurities with high distribution coefficient.

EFFECT: determination of quantitative content of organic peroxides of structure R-O-O-H and R-O-O-R in streams formed in cumene process of obtaining phenol and acetone without preliminary treatment of analysed sample with high accuracy.
