FIELD: image encoding.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image encoding means. Information indicating the resolution of motion vectors of the current block and information on the differential motion vector is obtained from the bit stream. First neighbouring block is selected from a plurality of neighbouring blocks adjacent to the current block using the obtained information indicating the resolution of the motion vectors of the current block. If the current block refers to a reference frame in list 0 and the first neighbouring block refers to a reference frame in list 0, a motion vector predictor of the current block is determined using the motion vector of the first neighbouring block. If the current block refers to a reference frame in list 0 and the first neighbouring block refers to a reference frame in list 1, motion vector of a second neighbouring block from said plurality of adjacent blocks is determined as a default motion vector and a motion vector predictor of the current block is determined using said defined default motion vector. Motion vector predictor of the current block is adjusted based on information indicating the resolution of the motion vectors of the current block.
