METHOD FOR PREDICTING OUTCOMES OF POSTPARTUM COMPLICATIONS IN COWS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC G01N33/50 A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2819021 C1

FIELD: veterinary science.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to prediction of outcomes of postpartum complications in cows. Method includes assessing the state of the animal in accordance with the criteria for calculating SAPS, such as change in the general state, purulent discharge during rectal palpation, respiratory rate, heart rate, body temperature, development of toxic leukocytosis and concentration of glucose, total protein in blood, albumin and activity of alanine aminotransferase, where deviation from the norm is calculated as a percentage relative to the step size, wherein the step size is calculated as the difference between the maximum and minimum reference values of the standard value. A corresponding point is assigned to each determined criterion. When assessing SAPS indicators in prognostic development of septic processes in the body, each of the indicators is taken into account, at maximum assessment of each indicator in the point system from 0 to 3, the SAPS prediction formula is determined by summation of all indicators. If the SAPS value is 0–6 points and the average cytochemical coefficient index is 1.1–1.9 or 2–2.8, a favorable outcome of postpartum complications in cows is predicted. If the SAPS value is 7–10 points and the average cytochemical coefficient index is 1.1–1.9 or 2–2.8, a questionable outcome of postpartum complications in cows is predicted. If the SAPS value is 7–13 points and the average cytochemical coefficient index is 0–1, an unfavorable outcome of postpartum complications in cows is predicted.

EFFECT: invention enables to determine a favorable, cautious or unfavorable prognosis in purulent-septic postpartum complications in cows and to resort to adequate technological and veterinary measures.
