FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing improved oil produced from black liquor, which is supplied from the pulp/paper industry. Described is a method of producing improved bio-oil produced from black liquor, which includes the following steps, at which: providing black liquor, which comes from pulp and paper industry; pyrolysis of black liquor is carried out to form a gaseous product of pyrolysis of black liquor and a solid mass which contains coal and salts; catalytic conversion of said gaseous product of pyrolysis of black liquor is carried out by reacting at least part of the latter with a bimetallic modified zeolite catalyst which is modified with a first metal and a second metal, to form improved bio-oil, which contains benzene, toluene, xylene (BTX), naphthalene and non-BTX products, wherein said first metal is a transition metal selected from group IIB of the periodic table, and said second metal consists of: a. one metal element selected from the series of lanthanides of the periodic table, having an atomic number in range of 57 to 60; or b. transition metal of group IB of the periodic table; or s. transition metal of group VI of periodic table.

EFFECT: positive contribution to aromatization of black liquor in BTK.
