FIELD: construction; mining.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction and operation of wells, namely to water-swellable packers. Water-swellable packer comprises a shaft, limiting casings, fasteners and a sealing element made in the form of a hollow cylinder with end sections. Sealing element is made of elastic water-swellable material with possibility of swelling in the well as a result of its contact with activation fluid in the well, with possibility of retention in longitudinal direction by means of limiting casings and fixed on shaft. Limiting casing is made with possibility of preventing longitudinal displacement of sealing element relative to shaft and fixation on shaft by means of fastening element or elements. Limiting casings are located on the shaft and on the end sections of the sealing element with the possibility of overlapping the end sections. Sealing element with end sections is fixed on the shaft by means of vulcanisation. End section of the sealing element is arranged with the possibility of placement and self-sealing inside the limiting casing. Elastic water-swellable material is a material which provides volumetric swelling of up to 200% and with the beginning of swelling not earlier than 48 hours after its contact with the activation fluid in the well, and includes an elastomer in the form of rubber, a vulcanising group, an absorbent polymer, a filler, a mineral fibre, a plasticiser and an anti-aging agent, at certain weight ratios.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of application – installation of water-swellable packers in wells of a group of formations of Western Siberia with chemical type of water – hydrocarbonate-sodium and chloride-calcium with mineralization of 5–15 g/l and working temperature of formation fluid of 56–108 °C.
