FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to grinding ball for semi-automatic grinding mills. Ball has a composition containing in wt.%: carbon 1.1–1.4, chromium 10–14, manganese 0.8–1.5, silicon 0.6–1, molybdenum less than 1, nickel less than 1, any impurities with total content of less than 0.5, the rest is up to 100% iron. Grinding ball has discrete distribution of chromium carbides and has microstructure with percentage content of martensite of more than 50%.
EFFECT: ball has high impact strength and wear resistance.
