FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is an esterase, which has at least 90%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98% or 99% identity to the full-length amino acid sequence presented in SEQ ID NO: 1 comprises at least combination of substitutions N207C and S256C and has high activity of decomposition of polyesters and/or high thermal stability compared to esterase SEQ ID NO: 1. Also disclosed are a nucleic acid coding said esterase, an expression cassette containing said nucleic acid, a host cell containing said nucleic acid or a cassette, composition for breaking down polyester-containing materials containing said esterase or a host cell. Also disclosed is a method of breaking down at least one polyester of a polyester-containing material using said esterase or host cell or composition.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain esterases exhibiting higher activity and/or higher thermal stability compared to esterase having the amino acid sequence specified in SEQ ID NO: 1.
