FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for treating keratoconus stage I-II. For this purpose, corneal stromata are saturated with 0.25% aqueous isotonic solution of riboflavin mononucleotide for 10 minutes by means of corneal iontophoresis with current intensity of 1 mA. Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation of cornea with power of 18 mW/cm2 is performed for 10 minutes in pulse mode 1 second - light, then 1 second - pause. Simultaneously with UV irradiation, corneal oxygenation is performed by supplying moistened oxygen with partial pressure of 90% into the periocular region through a device in the form of protective glasses tightly adjacent to the edge of the orbit without a frontal glass, wherein during UV exposure, periodic installations of 0.1% aqueous isotonic solution of riboflavin mononucleotide are performed at rate of 1 drop per minute.
EFFECT: invention provides reducing the duration of the procedure, eliminating the development of corneal syndrome, reducing the risk of infectious and crosslinking-induced complications in the postoperative period and reducing the length of rehabilitation of patients due to additional oxygenation of the cornea and preserving the corneal epithelium.
