SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a lightning arrester comprising a resistor and an insulating bushing located outside the resistor. Also disclosed is a method of making a lightning arrester, in which a resistor is made from a rod-shaped workpiece by high-temperature annealing, and the zinc oxide mixture is converted into a rod-shaped workpiece by isostatic pressing or end pressing, wherein the end of the resistor is connected to the connecting end unit, which is located inside the insulating bushing, the connecting end unit is connected to the electrode output.
EFFECT: high nonlinearity coefficient, sensitivity to pressure, mechanical strength is the technical result of the invention, which is provided by a method of making a resistor from a zinc oxide mixture, having the shape of a long rod, in which the connecting surface of the contact is reduced, as a result of which the electrical properties of the lightning arrester are significantly improved; in addition, the zinc oxide mixture has excellent mechanical properties, in connection with which the oxidised ceramic resistor in the form of a long rod can be directly connected to a wire or an external support, without relying on any insulating support, so that the use of the insulating support is excluded, which as a result reduces the structural size of the lightning arrester and increases the efficiency of producing the lightning arrester.
