FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to a nonlinear metal oxide rod resistor and a method of its manufacturing. Main steps of the method for manufacturing a nonlinear resistor include: S100 – preparation of a rod resistor blank by isostatic pressing and/or dry pressing along the radial direction of the blank, S200 – sintering a rod resistor blank to produce a semi-finished rod resistor, and S300 – sputtering an aluminium electrode on each of the two ends of the semi-finished product of the rod resistor to obtain a nonlinear metal oxide rod resistor, which has diameter of circle or circumscribed circle of cross section in range from 20 to 80 mm and has ratio of height to diameter greater than or equal to two.
EFFECT: use of isostatic pressing in the manufacture of the rod resistor in accordance with the proposed method enables to apply uniform forces to the blank in all directions, as a result of which the obtained rod resistor with a high ratio of height to diameter has a uniform density.
