FIELD: radiophysical measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to radiophysical measurements, particularly to methods of measuring mechanical deformations of elastic materials under the effect of a pulsed compressive load. Method of determining the dynamic Poisson ratio includes non-contact phase measurement of transverse and strain measurement of longitudinal deformations of the analysed sample. In the method of determining the dynamic Poisson ratio using a directional coupler, a part of the signal of the probing radiation generator is diverted to the first channel of the digital recorder, and the remaining main signal is transmitted through a decoupling valve to a directional probing antenna, which, together with the directional receiving antenna, is placed in one plane on the side of the lateral surface of the analysed sample, signal reflected from the analysed sample received by the directional receiving antenna is transmitted to the second channel of the digital recorder launched at the moment of collision of the striker with the analysed sample.

EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring transverse deformation to 1 mcm with time resolution of 1 mcs.
