FIELD: neurobiology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to neurobiology, in particular to a device and a method for investigating locomotor activity in fish. Device includes an aquarium in which there is a device in the form of a chute with two holes on opposite ends for constant circulation of water inside the device. Chute has a third hole in the upper part for placing fish into the device. It also includes a pump providing a directed water head inside the device, two electrodes providing direct current supply inside the device and installed on the opposite side of the pump. Device is divided into zones: safe, in which there is no direct current, and dangerous, in which there is direct current. Zones are delimited by an insulation system which is semi-permeable for water, which protects the fish from contact with the electrodes. Method consists in the fact that fish is placed into the device, water pressure is provided inside the device with the help of a pump. Then, direct current is supplied inside the device on the opposite side of the pump. When a fish swims into a dangerous zone, the effect of direct current takes place, and when a fish swims into a safe zone, the effect of direct current is switched off. Recording is carried out with the help of a video camera or the location of fish in the zones and its behaviour is visually fixed.

EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to increase efficiency of research of locomotor activity of fish.
