FIELD: medicine; neurosurgery.

SUBSTANCE: one catheter is inserted into subarachnoid cisterns of the brain base. Catheter is brought out through the counteropening. Catheter is then connected to a closed system for measuring intracranial pressure and drainage of cerebrospinal fluid Tube Set with a reservoir for CSF. Tube Set system is then connected to an apparatus for monitoring intracranial pressure and drainage CSF LiquoGuard 7. Pressure sensor is placed in the direction of CSF flow. Monitor displays intracranial pressure data. Thereafter, CSF drainage parameters are set in ml/h, as well as intracranial pressure at which CSF is to be released. Threshold values of minimum and maximum intracranial pressure at which the device will generate alarm signals are set.

EFFECT: method enables drainage of cerebrospinal fluid from subarachnoid cisterns of the base of the brain according to the specified ICP parameters into a closed system using only one catheter, reduce the risk of infectious and cerebrospinal fluid complications, perform ICP-oriented sanation of cerebrospinal fluid, prevent the risk of developing refractory intracranial hypertension and improve outcomes of surgical management of massive intracranial hemorrhages due to rupture of cerebral arterial aneurysms.
