FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the study of mechanical properties of materials, in particular to determination of ultimate strength in transverse bending (σbend[MPa]) and hardness (H [HRA]) of hard alloys consisting of tungsten carbide and cobalt-rhenium binder, intended for processing of hard-to-machine materials. Ultimate strength at transverse bending (σbend) is determined, for this purpose, destructive force is applied to the middle of the sample lying on two supports, and measuring it, then measuring Rockwell hardness on scale HRA (H) of samples of hard alloys with different content of carbide and binder and different composition of binder, correlation dependence is established between σbend and H and volumetric content of binder (Vbn) and/or carbide phase (VC) functionally related to alloy composition. Binder density (ρbn) is determined by additivity rule: ρbn=(cρRe+dρCo)/100, where c and d are the content of rhenium and cobalt in the binder, wt.%, ρRe and ρCo is density of rhenium and cobalt, with subsequent determination of volume content of binder Vbn and/or carbide phase VC and then ultimate strength in transverse bending (σbend) and hardness (H) by dependencies.
EFFECT: possibility of predicting properties of hard alloys consisting of tungsten carbide WC and binder (Re+Co).
