FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to production of aluminium composites. Method of producing an aluminium composite reinforced with basalt involves introducing basalt fibres into an aluminium melt, mixing the melt with a mechanical mixer, pouring and cooling. Initial basalt fibres with diameter of 4÷6 mcm is preliminarily crushed by multiple impulse switching on of impact-type grinder with pulse duration of not more than 20 s with total duration of pulses of not less than 3 min with provision of crushed fragments with length of 40÷45 mcm. Crushed basalt fibres are formed in the form of capsules packed in a foil shell made of technically pure aluminium. Packaged basalt fibres are heated to a temperature of at least 200 °C and introduced into melt of technically pure aluminium, heated to temperature of not less than 780 °C, with its continuous stirring for at least 30 s. Weight percentage of aluminium and basalt fibres is in ratio of 80/20. Casting of finished aluminium composite is carried out in steel chill mould at temperature of not less than 740 °C.
EFFECT: improved mechanical properties of the composite.
