FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining body shape of laboratory rats involves measuring tail length, body weight, chest circumference, wherein rat’s body shape is determined by formula: BSI=1.5×TL-BW/100-CC, where BSI is the rat’s body shape index; TL is tail length, cm; BW is body weight, g; CC is chest circumference, cm, wherein BSI values are > 12 standard units correspond to asthenic constitution of animal, BSI in range of 10–12 standard units corresponds to normosthenic body shape of animal, BSI is < 10 standard units corresponds to hypersthenic body shape of animal.
EFFECT: invention enables to create a non-invasive method for determining body shapes in rats.
