SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 4-aryl-substituted 8-hydroxy-5,10a-dimethyl-1,3,4,10a-tetrahydro-2H-chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-ones(thiones), which can be used as precursors for synthesis of biologically active substances and medicinal preparations. Method of producing compounds of general formula

where R=C₆H₅, 4-ClC₆H₄, 4-MeC₆H₄, 4-MeOC₆H₄, X=O or S, consists in the fact that as reagents for synthesis of 4-aryl-substituted 8-hydroxy-5,10a-dimethyl-1,3,4,10a-tetrahydro-2H-chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-ones(thiones) using 4-aryl-substituted 5-acetyl-6-methyldihydropyrimidin-2-ones(thiones) and benzene-1,3-diol, which react in molar ratio of 1:2 in a solution of chloroform and acetic acid in the presence of methanesulphonic acid in case of obtaining derivatives of thiourea or sulfuric acid for synthesis of urea derivatives at temperature of 50... 60 °C for 13–20 hours. Then the obtained reaction mass is cooled and poured into an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate, the precipitate is filtered, washed with water and recrystallized from ethyl acetate and then dried in air.
