MULTI-CELL ELECTROLYSER Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC C25B1/04 C25B1/26 C25B9/01 C25B9/23 C25B9/75

Abstract RU 2821181 C2

FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of hydrogen and/or chlorine. Electrolyser (1) includes electrolysis unit (3) containing multiple panel electrolysis cells (4) located close to each other and electrically connected in series. Each electrolysis cell (4) has an anode chamber and a cathode chamber, separated from each other by means of a plate separator. Electrolyser comprises pressing device (10) for mechanical and electrical connection of elements of electrolysis unit (3). Unit (3) comprises at least two multi-cell elements (11), each of which includes a plurality of electrolysis cells (4), and mechanical clamping device (12), holding together electrolysis cells (4) of each multi-cell element (11), providing tightness of multi-cell elements (11) connected mechanically and electrically by means of pressing device (10). Pressing device (10) is configured to apply required compression force to unit (3), interacting with edge electrolysis cells (4) of unit (3). Pressing device (10) is connected to at least two adjacent multi-cell elements (11) for application of contact pressure to adjacent multi-cell elements (11).

EFFECT: safe in operation, easy handling and maintenance, possibility of replacement, removal or installation of separate multi-cell elements without complete disassembly of electrolyser.
