FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of remote sensing methods, namely to paleontological research, and can be used for remote detection of locations and mapping of distribution of remains of mammoth fauna and mammoth tusk in cryolithozone. Disclosed is a method for remote search of remains of mammoth fauna and mammoth tusk, which includes: selection of model territory within large territorial massifs in permafrost zone; performance of satellite survey of model territory and selection of previously made images of selected model territory from database of images of satellite imagery. Further, the satellite imagery images are pre-processed by topographic, radiometric correction and spatial referencing on the model territory; processing of images of satellite imagery by mapping paleo-channels of streams and their spatial referencing on model territory; processing images of satellite imagery by superimposing geological and geomorphological data of the model territory, including facial composition and stratigraphic position of productive sections and horizons using methods of Quaternary stratigraphy and paleontology, as well as methods of absolute date; processing images of satellite imagery by combining them with data on characteristics of tusks and fragments of tusks of woolly mammoth Mammuthus primigenius, found on model territory; processing images of satellite imagery by combining them with data on paleofaunistic composition of Late Pleistocene mammals collected on a model territory; processing images of satellite imagery by combining them with monitoring data of licensed data on collection of paleontological collection materials of mammoth fauna on model territory; processing satellite imagery by combining them with data on archeological findings found during archeological research on a model territory. Then follows classification of processed images of satellite survey of model territory in software products intended for image processing; subsequent overlapping of processed images of satellite survey of model territory and points with fixed geographical coordinates of model territory; planning of field routes and detection of locations of remains of mammoth fauna and mammoth tusk by fixing their geographical coordinates using GPS/GLONASS navigation receivers, establishment of quantitative characteristics of the investigated types of mammoth fauna.
EFFECT: use of the disclosed technical solution will make it possible to carry out remote search of the locations of the remains of the mammoth fauna and the mammoth tusk in the cryolithozone in large areas throughout the year, and also to predict location of remains of mammoth fauna and mammoth tusk and to carry out their mapping for separate areas of territories in permafrost zone.
