FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of video coding of an image unit. Current block is obtained. Residual block corresponding to the current block is obtained. Transform kernel is determined for the residual block, wherein the transform kernel is either a discrete cosine transform type 2 (DCT2) transform kernel, or a transform kernel other than DCT2. Conversion is performed with respect to the residual block using a determined conversion kernel to obtain conversion coefficients of the current block. Bitstream including a sequence parameters set (SPS) and encoded image data obtained based on transform coefficients is generated, wherein the SPS includes a flag indicating whether a DCT2 transform kernel or another transform kernel is used for the current block.
EFFECT: enabling switching to a pure DCT2 transformation kernel using an output transformation tool for the entire sequence or slice.
