FIELD: various technological processes; contact welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to contact seam welding of metal sheets, in particular walls of tanks for storage and transportation of liquefied natural gas. Annular electrode (1) used in welding machine for welding of metal sheets (52, 54) is equipped with cooling system (20) for cooling of its contact surface (2). Diameter (D1) of disc (4) forming contact surface (2) is 100 mm or less. Cooling system (20) for cooling contact surface (2) comprises at least two separate cooling circuits (22, 24) made with possibility of passage of at least one liquid through them.
EFFECT: electrode can withstand increase in frequency and strength of electric current while maintaining minimum size, which ensures reduction of dimensions of welding machine equipped with such electrodes.
