FIELD: powder metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly to ultrahigh-temperature ceramics based on metal borides. Described is a method of producing a composite nanopowder ZrB3 – SiC, involving reaction of chlorides ZrCl4 and BCl3 in a stream of hydrogen-containing thermal plasma to form ZrB2 particles, wherein into high-temperature flow with formed ZrB2 nanoparticles methyl silane vapours SiCH6 are introduced, during thermal decomposition of which nanoparticles of silicon carbide SiC are formed.

EFFECT: possibility of obtaining a homogeneous composite powder ZrB2 – SiC, consisting of nanoparticles, in a high-intensity process using zirconium and boron chlorides as raw material, as well as methylsilane – products produced on an industrial scale.
