FIELD: production of heat- and radiation-resistant zirconium-based materials; production of zirconium diboride, in particular.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method may be used for production of zirconium diboride enriched with one of boron isotopes. Proposed method consists in interaction of single sprayed solution of zirconium tetrachloride and boron halogenide with hydrogen in plasma hydrogen-containing heat carrier in organic solvent selected from the following series: tetrachloromethane, methylene dichloride, dichloroethane, monochlorobenzene, anisole at subsequent separation of target product from dust-and-gas mixture. Process is performed at the following mole ratio of components: zirconium tetrachloride: boron halogenide: organic solvent: hydrogen = 1: (2.05-2.60) : (12-14): (60-85).

EFFECT: constant high quality of target product.
