FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. Method of internal combustion engine operation includes inlet of fresh charge of fuel mixture, ignition of fuel mixture in combustion chamber (1), injection of water into combustion chamber (1) and discharge of exhaust gases from cylinder (4). When piston (3) approaches the mark of ignition advance angle by nozzle (14), water jets (15) are injected into combustion chamber (1). Water film settles on walls (2) of combustion chamber, and when heated, it produces steam (16) enveloping walls (2) of combustion chamber. Water is injected before ignition of the fuel mixture.
EFFECT: increasing power due to conversion of internal energy of combustion products into internal energy of water vapour, as well as due to reduction of heat losses to the cooling system.
