SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for generating standards for checking valuable documents, particularly banknotes of a given type, as well as a method and a device for checking valuable documents of a given type. In the method, valuable documents of a given type have at least two predetermined structural elements, in particular printed layers and/or anti-counterfeit elements, which in certain cases are partially overlapped, carried out using digital training images of training valuable documents related to a given type of valuable documents, each of which has pixels, with which corresponding pixel data are associated, wherein the method includes the following steps: for each of the training images, a position data set is obtained with position coordinates in a coordinate space describing the positions of the structural elements, at least relative to each other, on the valuable document, form at least two, preferably at least four, subregions of positions in coordinate space, each of which includes at least a predetermined number of position data sets, wherein subregions of positions do not contain common sets of position data, for each position subregion using training images of valuable documents, a standard is created and the created standard and position subregion data describing the location and length of the corresponding position subregion are stored in memory.
EFFECT: high reliability of checking valuable documents due to generation of more accurate templates of document subregions.
