FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to checking a given optical security feature inside or on a given portion of a value document based on pixel data of pixels of an image of given portion which are associated with places inside or on portion and render optical properties of value document at places. Check is made of whether a first number of pixels or first portion of pixels of image pixels, pixel data in accordance with first preset criterion are located inside specified for security feature first reference area, set for security feature first minimum number of matches and whether first distribution of pixel data of those pixels which according to first criterion are located inside first reference area set for security feature first minimum distribution value. Depending on result of checking, an authenticity signal is formed which represents an indication of authenticity only when first number or first portion exceeds first minimum number of matches and distribution exceeds first minimum distribution value.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of accuracy of checking security features.
