SUBSTANCE: steam supply system comprises an evaporator for generating steam from the feed and a tank for storing the feed. The system also comprises a control circuit configured to supply a first non-zero power level to the evaporator to generate steam from at least a portion of the feed; determining a depletion state of the parent substance based on tracking a parameter indicative of the amount of at least a portion of the parent substance, and comparing the monitored parameter with a first threshold value; and applying to the evaporator a second non-zero power level less than the first power level if the control circuit determines that depletion has occurred based on a comparison of the monitored parameter with the first threshold value.

EFFECT: enabling the user to take the necessary actions, or, accordingly, plan vaping by combining a depletion warning with the ability to generate vapor even if depletion is detected in the system.
