SUBSTANCE: steam production system comprises first activation sensor; a second activation sensor; a user programmable circuit configured in response to user input to store a first user setting for sharing with a first activation sensor and a second user setting for sharing with a second activation sensor; and a power control circuit configured to control supply of power to the evaporator for generating steam from the initial substance for inhalation by the user, wherein the power control circuit is configured to control supply of power to the evaporator in accordance with the first user setting in response to detection of activation of the first activation sensor by the user and controlling supply of power to the evaporator in accordance with the second user setting in response to detection of activation by the user of the second activation sensor.
