FIELD: chemical-pharmaceutical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of extracting grayanotoxin III (GTX III) from yellow rhododendron leaves. Grayanotoxin III (GTX III) extraction by 95% ethanol extraction from yellow rhododendron leaves, wherein at stage A—obtaining an extract of yellow rhododendron leaves using raw material—yellow rhododendron leaves (Rhododendron luteum Sweet, Azaleaflava Hoffmanns., Azaleapontica L., Rhododendron flavum G. Don), growing at the foot of the Dzhinal range in the vicinity of Kislovodsk (Russian Federation, Stavropol Territory), raw material is dried by air-shadow method till residual moisture content is about 10%, crushed to size of 1 mm, for extraction using exact weight of raw material about 5.0 g, volume of extractant—50 ml at each stage, water duty—1:10, number of extraction stages—2, extraction time at each stage—2 hours with reflux condenser, extraction temperature—80 °C, obtained extracts are combined, then stage B is implemented—extraction of grayanotoxin III, by placing 0.4 ml of the obtained extract into a column filled with 10 g of silica gel 60, elution of fractions with a mobile phase consisting of volume fractions—chloroform—methanol 9:1, volume of each fraction—10 ml, GTX III from fractions 3 and 4 is recrystallised with temperature of 10 °C for 24 hours, then GTX III is placed in glass ampoules and sealed.

EFFECT: method described above enables to extract grayanotoxin III (GTX III) from yellow rhododendron leaves, which can further be used as a standard sample in analytical, toxicological and pharmacological studies, as well as for the development of new original domestic medicinal agents.
