SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of providing a pilot with visual information in the absence of visibility of the sea surface at night. To provide the pilot with visual information, forming a visible, solid or consisting of several lines, stabilized in the plane of the horizon, a virtual surface, directed along the take-off or landing trajectory of the helicopter and being a spatial extension of the take-off-landing site (TOLS) with reference marks, informing on distance to TOLS by means of light flux emitting source installed on ship on stabilized platform.

EFFECT: higher flight safety of helicopter carriers due to providing the pilot with visual information.
