FIELD: radar.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in radar systems having an antenna, which beam pattern (BP) is periodically distorted due to interaction with rotorcraft rotor blades. In the disclosed method, the angular interval of positions of the equisignal direction (ED) of the antenna beam pattern relative to the rotor blade of the rotorcraft is determined, in which the blade has an unacceptable effect on the antenna beam pattern ("shaded" angular interval). Value of said angular interval is used to determine admissibility of direction finding at the moment of direction finding of the target. At the moment of target direction finding, the current angular position of the rotorcraft rotor blades relative to the rotorcraft reference line is determined and current position of boundaries of "shaded" angular intervals relative to rotorcraft reference line associated with current angular positions of blades. Taking into account the current position of the equisignal direction of the antenna beam pattern relative to the rotorcraft reference line, it is determined, whether the current direction of the equisignal direction of the antenna beam pattern falls within one of the "shaded" angular intervals, in which the corresponding blade inadmissibly distorts the antenna beam pattern, and based on the determination results, the target direction finding is allowed or not.
EFFECT: reduction of target direction finding errors by the radar system associated with periodic distortion of the antenna beam pattern of the system due to periodic effect of rotorcraft rotor blade on antenna electromagnetic field.
