FIELD: traffic control systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of preventing collision of vehicles moving one after another on the same lane. In compliance with this method, distance from moving vehicle behind is measured and compared with conditionally safe distance. If conditionally safe distance is violated, brake lights of front vehicle are lit in intermittent mode. If the moving vehicle from behind continues to approach the moving vehicle, the interval between firing is reduced. Conditionally safe distance is determined by the formula L=V*T*k1*k2, where L is the conditionally safe distance, m; V is front vehicle speed, m/s; T is the reaction time of the driver of the rear vehicle, s; k1 is time of day increasing coefficient; k2 is the weather conditions increasing coefficient.
EFFECT: higher safety of vehicles moving in one lane is achieved.
