SUBSTANCE: proposed is a method for preventing collisions of vehicles stopping one after the other when driving in the same lane. The distance and speed of approach of the braking vehicle in the rear are measured on a stopped vehicle. The braking acceleration is calculated, and the braking distance thereof until a complete accident-free stop in the rear is predicted. If the length of the braking distance is insufficient, the value thereof is compared with the free distance in front of the stopped vehicle, and if a collision from the rear in unavoidable, the stopped vehicle is automatically moved forward to a safe distance possible in the current road situation.
EFFECT: safety is increased.
