SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image coding based on cross-component adaptive contour filtering. Result is achieved by the fact that the image information includes slice header information and a sequence parameter set (SPS), including a cross-component adaptive loop filter (CCALF) activation flag, associated with whether cross-component filtering is available or not, wherein based on the determination that the value of the ALF activation flag included in the slice header information is 1, and the value of the CCALF activation flag included in SPS is 1, slice header information includes information on whether CCALF is activated for filtered reconstructed colour signal samples, as well as identification information (ID) of adaptation parameter sets (APS), including ALF-data used to extract coefficients of the cross-component filter. Said image information includes information relative to the coding tree unit indicating whether the cross-component filter is applied to the colour components Cb and Cr of the current block, as well as information on the filter bank index for the cross-component filter applied to the colour components Cb and Cr of the current block.
