FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for protection of metal from corrosion during preservation of engines. During the internal combustion engine conservation, an inert gas with density higher than that of air, for example, argon, is fed into the inlet path, and pressure in the inlet path is not less than 0.05 kgf/cm2. Fuel supply to cylinders is cut off and engine crankshaft is cranked by starter for 7 s, thus providing filling of cylinders, inlet and outlet paths with inert gas. Starter is disconnected and the engine is stopped, the outlet path is sealed, supply of inert gas to the inlet path is stopped and it is sealed. Then the oil filler plug is unscrewed, the dipstick is removed to check the oil level, inert gas is supplied to the lower part of the engine crankcase through the formed hole for the dipstick with nominal supply of not more than 2 l/s for 70 s. After that, supply of inert gas is stopped, the dipstick is installed, the oil filler neck is screwed up and the ventilation system of crankcase gases is sealed.
EFFECT: proposed method allows to reduce labour intensity, increase efficiency of works performance and reduce oxidative reactions in engine during its conservation.
