FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of making a plain bearing insert. Proposed method comprises the steps that follow. Main copper or aluminum antifriction bearing alloy and one or more antifriction "running-in" coatings are applied on the inner surface of the steel housing of the bearing based on lead, tin or aluminum with thickness of 15–50 mcm with an intermediate barrier layer of nickel with thickness of 1–3 mcm. After application on the main antifriction alloy of the multilayer coating on the inner surface of the plain bearing, diamond burnishing of this surface is performed with provision of plastic deformation on thickness of coating layer by value of 10–30%.
EFFECT: higher reliability and quality of the plain bearing insert manufacturing.
