FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an aqueous polyurethane dispersion used as a coating composition for various types of substrates, as well as to a method of producing said dispersion. Aqueous polyurethane dispersion contains anionic polyurethane particles and cross-linking particles. Anionic polyurethane particles contain both free side carboxylate groups described by formula -COO- M+, where M+ is a cation, which is a result of neutralization of carboxylic acid groups with a base, and side groups of a carboxylic ester, which are a result of esterification of free carboxylic acid groups with epoxy silane. Cross-linking particles are formed from compounds of transition metals, insoluble in water. Method of producing the dispersion involves esterification of side carboxylate groups of the anionic polyurethane dispersion by reacting them with epoxysilane and dispersing particles of a transition metal compound in the anionic polyurethane dispersion.
EFFECT: obtained aqueous polyurethane dispersion is non-toxic, solvent-free, non-flammable, as well as a stable film-forming dispersion, which, when applied in the form of a coating on a substrate, forms water-resistant coatings which exhibit good retention of their mechanical performance characteristics.
