FIELD: chemical or physical processes.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to aqueous dispersions containing polymers of olefinically unsaturated compounds, obtained by a multi-step method, to production and use thereof, in particular in the field of automotive coating. Aqueous dispersion contains at least one polymer obtained by: I. by polymerisation of mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers A, including at least one mono-unsaturated ester of (meth)acrylic acid and/or at least one vinyl mono-unsaturated monomer, by emulsion polymerisation in water, wherein polymer obtained from monomers A has glass transition temperature of 10–55 °C; II. by polymerisation of mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers B, including at least one polyolefinically unsaturated monomer and at least one mono-unsaturated (meth)acrylic acid ester, by emulsion polymerisation in water in the presence of a polymer, obtained in I.; III. polymerisation of a mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers C, comprising at least one alpha-beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid, at least one mono-unsaturated (meth) acrylic acid ester and at least one mono-unsaturated ester of (meth)acrylic acid, by emulsion polymerisation in water in the presence of a polymer obtained in II.

EFFECT: invention provides improved adhesion when painting metal and plastic substrates, as well as, in particular, for improved adhesion between the primer and the original finishing.
