SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in X-ray studies. Method of obtaining an X-ray image of a flat field is characterized by that an array of initial flat field images is obtained, each of which corresponds to a given set of values of acquisition parameters, compressing each of the obtained initial images of the flat field to produce as a result an array of variables with a smaller dimension than that of the corresponding initial image of the flat field, method includes approximating the dependence of the variables of each of the obtained arrays on the values of the parameters for obtaining the corresponding initial images of the flat field, storing the parameters of the approximating relationship, value of the first correction coefficient K1 = 1 is stored. Then, an image of the test object is obtained, a flat field image corresponding to the values of the parameters of obtaining the image of the test object is obtained, obtaining the current value of the first correction coefficient K1 and the first corrected flat field image by multiplying said flat field image by K1, obtaining an image of a background mask using said image of the analyzed object, obtaining the value of the second correction coefficient K2 using said image of the object of investigation, said image of the background mask and said first corrected image of the flat field, obtaining an updated value of K1 using at least the last previously stored value of coefficient K1 and the value of the second correction coefficient K2 and storing the updated value of K1, final corrected flat field image is obtained by multiplying said first corrected flat field image by K2.

EFFECT: reduced volume of memory occupied by calibration data, and increased interval between calibrations of the X-ray device.
