FIELD: imaging technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the recovery of image data. A method for recovering image data (I3) representing the data of the original image (I1) from the decoded image data (I2) and parameters obtained from the bit stream (101), the mentioned parameters are obtained by processing from the mentioned data of the original image (I1), while the recovered image is adapted to the characteristics of the representation display and contains: correction (122) two chromaticity components to obtain two recovered chromaticity components, while the correction of (120) chromaticity is carried out in response to the value of one mod modulation coefficient.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of the recovered HDR signal and ensuring the compatibility of the SDR signal with an SDR-enabled display.
